Why Cologne Needs Dr. Rahab Njeri And Why Gut & Klima Freunde Is the Movement for Real Change

On September 14th, residents of Cologne have a critical choice to make not just about who will represent them in BV Ehrenfeld, but what kind of future they want for their city.

This election is not about party slogans or empty promises. It’s about lived experience, deep expertise, and visionary leadership. It’s about Dr. Rahab Njeri. And it’s about a political movement that finally reflects the real Cologne: diverse, justice-driven, and climate-conscious. That movement is Gut & Klima Freunde.

✊🏿 Who Is Rahab Njeri?

Dr. Rahab Njeri is not your average candidate. She’s an award-nominated anti-racism consultant, a public intellectual, a researcher, and a fierce advocate for decolonial justice. Her academic work, rooted in African feminist thought, diaspora studies, and Black resistance, has shaped policy conversations and institutional change across Germany.

But Rahab is also a community builder someone who doesn’t just theorize about justice, but delivers it. At the University of Cologne, she supports victims of discrimination, trains staff in racism-critical awareness, and actively shapes Cologne’s postcolonial heritage policy. She brings decades of international perspective and local political experience as a candidate who once ran in the 2020 municipal elections and now returns to finish the work she began.

🌍 What Is Gut & Klima Freunde?

Gut & Klima Freunde is more than a political platform it’s a response to everything traditional politics has failed to address.

It’s a movement founded on the intersection between social justice, climate action, and human dignity. It’s about pushing beyond performative diversity. It’s about representation that leads to transformation. And it’s about reshaping power structures in our neighborhoods from Ehrenfeld to Bickendorf, Ossendorf to Neuehrenfeld.

Together with candidates like Rahab Njeri, Gut & Klima Freunde stands for:

  • ✔️ Climate justice that includes migrant and racialized communities often left out of mainstream environmental policy.
  • ✔️ Multilingual, accessible support for people facing discrimination.
  • ✔️ Embedding anti-racism and anti-discrimination standards across public institutions, from schools to sports to cultural spaces.
  • ✔️ Creating and protecting safer spaces online, in clubs, in neighborhoods where everyone belongs.
  • ✔️ Fighting exclusion through radical participation: listening to residents, co-designing local solutions, and rejecting politics-as-usual.

🧠 Why Vote for Rahab?

Because Cologne isn’t the same city it was ten years ago and it needs leadership that reflects that.

Because representation without power is performance.
Because power without justice is violence.
Because Rahab brings lived experience, political clarity, and global expertise to the table.

And because her candidacy is backed by a movement Gut & Klima Freunde that refuses to separate climate justice from racial justice, access from dignity, or policy from humanity.

This is not symbolic politics. This is intersectional, community-rooted, Black feminist leadership at work.
